During times of war, soldiers in the trenches would create handcrafted gifts for their loved ones back home out of battle scraps. Objects such as bombshells, bullet casings, wood slivers and even bone could be repurposed to create a “sweetheart pin” for their mothers, girlfriends or sisters. These tiny souvenirs were thought to be a great comfort for their loved ones during their wartime absence.
This cuff was built to display a miniature spitfire fighter plane crafted from copper coins by a British solder during WWII as a gift for his sweetheart. We discovered this incredible relic buried deep in the drawer of a London militia collector in 2011.
Specs: White or standard bronze replica mounted on a 1.25” think cuff flanked by modern rivets and accents. Fighter plane is anchored to cuff with our signature V-stitch and gold or silver filled wire adding another layer of depth to the design. Fastened by our "Just Right" adjustable sizing closure.
